Instant Whiteboard — Privacy Policy
Instant Whiteboard ("the extension") is a local-first whiteboard for Chrome. We've designed it so the data you create stays on your device. This page explains what the extension does and does not do with your data.
What we collect
Nothing personally identifying. The extension does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information, analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or usage data.
What we store, and where
The extension saves your board (shapes, text, images you insert, and zoom/position) to your browser's local storage so it persists across reloads. Specifically:
- chrome.storage.local — used to auto-save your board on this device.
- unlimitedStorage permission — requested so inserted images don't hit the default 5 MB storage quota.
This data never leaves your device. It is not synced to any server we control, and we have no way to read it.
Permissions we request, and why
- storage — to auto-save your board locally.
- tabs — to open the whiteboard in a new tab when you click the toolbar icon or press the keyboard shortcut.
- unlimitedStorage — so larger boards (with images) can be saved locally.
Network activity
The extension does not make any network requests. It does not contact us, third-party servers, advertising networks, or analytics providers.
Cookies and tracking
The extension does not use cookies and does not track you across sites or sessions.
Images and clipboard data
Images you paste, drop, or insert via the toolbar are processed entirely in your browser and stored as part of your local board. They are not uploaded anywhere.
Children's privacy
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at the same URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
